Preference for Touch and Empathy
Informed Consent Form
This research is being conducted by Hanover College students Michael Draper and Annamarie Elmer. The study is designed to examine preference for personal non-erotic touch and its link to personality characteristics. You will be asked to respond to a survey that questions how comfortable you would be in situations where touch might occur. After the survey is completed, you will be debriefed. The entire study should last no more than half an hour. There are no known risks involved in being in this study, beyond those of everyday life.
At no time will your name be associated with the responses you give and your responses will not be shared outside of the academic setting. If you have any questions about what you will be doing in the study or about the study itself, feel free to ask them now or at any other time during your participation.
For any questions after the interview, please contact Dr. John Krantz at krantzj@hanover.edu, Annamarie Elmer at elmera@hanover.edu, or Michael Draper at draperm@hanover.edu. I acknowledge that I am participating in this study of my own free will.
I understand that I may refuse to participate or stop participating at any time. If you wish a copy of the consent form, please print this page.
