Dylan's Impact

I am a professor of psychology at Hanover College, a liberal arts college in Indiana, USA. I have research interests in the psychology of popular culture. In particular I am interested in how people make use of art, literature, music and popular culture as "equipment for living"--i.e., I want to understand how movies, books, music, etc., are integrated with people's identities and everyday lives.

In recent years I have noticed how much Bob Dylan’s music has meant to me, and this seems to be true of many other people as well. The current questionnaire is an attempt gather information from Dylan fans about why and how Dylan’s music has been so important to them.  My goal is to use this information to come to a greater understanding of how popular culture impacts people in general and how Dylan’s music has been particularly important to some individuals.

Your responses will be kept strictly confidential; only the members of the research team will have access the original responses.  Some quotations may be used in oral or written products that arise out of this research.  By clicking on the link below, you are agreeing to participate in this project.
